Exponential Decay of Timoshenko Systems with Indefinite Memory Dissipation
We study the asymptotic behavior of Timoshenko systems with memory, where the memory is given by a non-dissipative kernel and is acting only on one equation of the system. We show that the exponential stability depends on conditions regarding the decay rate of the kernel and a nice relationship between the coefficients of the system. Moreover, with full-memory effect in the system, we will show...
متن کاملFrictional versus viscoelastic damping for Timoshenko-type systems
In this paper we consider the following Timoshenko system φtt − (φx + ψ)x = 0, (0, 1)× (0,+∞) ψtt−ψxx + ∫ t 0 g(t−τ)(a(x)ψx(τ))xdτ +φx +ψ+b(x)h(ψt) = 0, (0, 1)×(0,∞) with Dirichlet boundary conditions where a, b, g, and h are specific functions. We establish an exponential and polynomial decay results. This result improves and generalizes some existing results in the literature.
متن کاملEnergy Decay of Damped Systems
We present a new and simple bound for the exponential decay of second order systems using the spectral shift. This result is applied to finite matrices as well as to partial differential equations of Mathematical Physics. The type of the generated semigroup is shown to be bounded by the upper real part of the numerical range of the underlying quadratic operator pencil.
متن کاملOn the decay of the energy for systems with memory and indefinite dissipation
In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of the viscoelastic system with non dissipative kernels. We show that the uniform decay of the energy depends on the decay of the kernel, the positivity of the kernel in t = 0 and some smallness condition. That is, if the kernel g ∈ C(R) with g(0) > 0, decays exponentially to zero then the solution decays exponentially to zero. On the other hand, i...
متن کاملOptimal energy decay rate for a class of weakly dissipative second-order systems with memory
In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of a class of linear dissipative integral differential equations utt(t)+Au(t)− ∫ ∞ 0 g(s) A u(t−s)ds = 0.We show that the solution decays and the decay rate is optimal. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
